Billing and Client Services Specialist
Overview:
Reporting to the clinic office manager, Billing and Client Service Specialist is responsible for the timely completion of the daily medical billing process and client enrollment, client education about payment options and assist with financial assistance programs as needed.
We are looking for a highly motivated individual with excellent people skills to add to our team at Sound Community Services, Inc. (SCSI) for the Client Accounts position. This vital position serves as an important member of the Sound Community Services Team in all areas of client, program(s) and third-party billing.
Essential Functions:
Responsible for third party billing operations for the agency, billing as necessary (daily, weekly, bi-weekly, monthly depending on program) to ensure timely receipt of third -party revenue.
- Acts as a resource to assist with troubleshooting and resolving billing issues.
- Client Enrollment
- Serve as the first point of contact for clients, providing a warm and welcoming environment.
- Conduct referral screenings to understand client needs and preferences.
- Schedule appointments and follow-up sessions, ensuring effective communication of appointment details.
- Provide information about the services offered
- Assist clients with understanding their insurance benefits and coverage options.
- Work closely with the finance department to resolve billing discrepancies and client inquiries.
- Educate clients about payment options and assist with financial assistance programs as needed.
- Collaboration and Team Support
- Collaborate with clinical staff to ensure seamless client care and support.
- Works directly with the Revenue Cycle Manager on all billing related tasked assigned.
- Participate in team meetings to discuss client feedback for process improvement.
- Support the development of client engagement initiatives.
- Administrative Tasks
- Answer telephones calls and respond to inquiries about services.
- Check clients in and out of clinic and other programs.
- Provide clerical support to all clinic staff.
- Collaboration and Team Support
- Participates in all agency activities pertaining to health and safety, training, drills, etc.
- Other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls, and climb stairs. The employee frequently is required to walk, talk and/or hear; Speaking and hearing ability sufficient to communicate effectively by phone or in person at normal volumes; Vision adequate to read correspondence, computer screen, forms, etc. The employee is occasionally required to stand and climb or balance. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this position include the ability to adjust focus.

Qualifications:
At least (2) years of billing & coding experience in a behavioral health/ medical office setting, of two (2) years of experience working in a behavioral health agency; an additional one (1) year of experience specific to the job duties; demonstrated knowledge of the population served, services provided at SCSI, community resources and cultural competence; medical practice experience and technical/electronic health record competency; excellent interpersonal skills, including conflict resolution, crisis intervention techniques and advanced customer services skills; strong organizational and time management skills; bi-lingual Spanish/English preferred.
