Position Overview 

Provide support to medical staff in a fast-paced mental health outpatient clinic. Obtaining and documenting vital signs accurately. Competent use of technology including Electronic Medical Records. 

Essential Functions:  

  •  Work in collaboration with clinic office manager and all clinic providers around client care. 
  • Work collaboratively with the Behavioral Health nurse on daily clinic operations and tasks. 
  • Verify person served information by interviewing client, review changes since last visit to note for clinical team review. 
  • Obtain and document client's vital signs accurately (weight, blood pressure, BMI, etc.) 
  • Complete tobacco screening assessments and link to resources as needed 
  • Complete/record urine drug screens as scheduled 
  • Record and update allergies in Electronic Client Record
  • Complete DDaP assessments as needed.  
  • Record substance abuse history.  
  • Obtain/maintain release of information as needed 
  • Obtains, scans and uploads pertinent medical records.  
  • Scan, upload and mail correspondence letters for discharge and follow up appointments.
  • Ensure that all labs and proper medication lists are uploaded in the ECR before prescriber appointments 
  • Check/Triage the refill line.  
  • Communicate/Coordinate transportation needs with person served   
  • Monitors the agency's voicemails multiple times/day, return/transfers the voice messages.
  • Schedules appointments as needed & checking phone messages.
  • Assist in making referrals to services that someone may benefit from as directed.
  • Contact Person's Served who do not show for appointments to facilitate re-engagement.
  • All other duties as assigned. 

 Physical Requirements:  

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit, handle or feel objects, tools or controls and climb stairs. The employee frequently is required to walk, talk and/or hear; able to speak and hear sufficiently in order to communicate effectively by phone or in person at normal volumes; vision adequate to read correspondence, computer screen, forms, etc. The employee is occasionally required to stand, climb and/or balance. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include the ability to adjust focus.  

Qualifications:  

High School diploma, or equivalentCertified Medical Assistant with a minimum with one (1) year of experience in behavioral health; competent user of technology including e-mail, agency intranet, and the electronic health record; demonstrated knowledge of services provided at SCSI, community resources and cultural competence; excellent interpersonal skills, including conflict resolution and advanced customer services skills; strong organizational and time management skills; CPR/First Aid certified or eligible.
